Program Information for the 2009/10 Season
The Snow Valley Racing Association provides the opportunity for ski racers to compete and enhance their skills within structured programs. Ski racing programs are offered for ages 4-18.Nancy Greene Programs (4 to 10 year olds)
The Nancy Greene Ski League (NG) is designed to introduce kids aged 4 to 10 to the world of ski racing. The league was inaugurated as a national program shortly after the success of Nancy Greene Raine at the 1968 Grenoble Winter Olympics Game. The main goals of our NG programs are to have fun, learn the fundamental skills of ski racing, and to learn the rewards of competing. Complete details can be found on the Nancy Greene Program page.Regional Programs (11 to 18 year olds)
This zone based program has a similar format to NG Programs with races around Edmonton and a provincial final in Jasper. Complete details can be found on the Regional Program page.Kinder Provincial Programs (11 to 14 year olds)
This high performance program is for racers looking for a challenging environment. Races are held throughout the province with the opportunity to qualify for national and international events. More details can be found on the Kinder Provincial Program page.Training Programs
The programs represent basic training packages at Snow Valley onto which additional training camps (local, mountains and summer) can be added to suit the ability, budget and level of commitment of the racers and their families.Dryland Training
Fall dryland testing will be held September 5th from 9:00-12:00 at the Kinsmen Field House. Dryland training begins September 8th and continues until October 31st. This is a great way to get in shape prior to the season and is open to racers in all of our programs. Training is generally on Tuesday and Thursday from 5 to 7 pm and Saturday from 10 to 12 noon, but times and locations vary, so please check the calendar here (xls)(pdf) .
Free Rookie Camp
Our Rookie Camp is for new families interested in trying our program for the first 4 sessions of the season, lift tickets are included. This gives the children and the parents a great way to get a feel for what our race team is all about. Families still complete the full registration process, but we do not process any of the registration until after the 4 sessions and the families inform us whether they are continuing with the program or not. The rookie camp will be held November 14th, 17th, 19th and 21st, weather permitting.
Please note for all SVRA programs:
- Certified racing helmets are mandatory at all times.
- Racers in all programs must have basic skiing skills.
- All racers must be Snow Valley Ski Club pass holders.
- There are minimal fundraising requirements in addition to membership fees in which all families are expected to participate.
